I have to tell you that when I write poems I rarely write short versions. I have written three Doctor Who poems regarding our gorgeous David.
Doctor, My Doctor.
Feel the anger, feel the fire
Be the object of my desire.
Watch the rainbow, feel the sun
A moment's triumph for everyone.
A fleeting kiss upon the wind
A moment's loss that can't begin
To understand what I have missed
Can't be replaced with just one kiss.
I know its true for what I feel
Is something more than I'd reveal
To anyone more than you,
The Time Lord, my Doctor Who!
Take me back to that planet's peace
Where dreams and desires are increased.
Where battles are fought and heroes gained
Where dragons are slaughtered and good remains.
A place so deep in my heart I keep
Forgetting to block when I go to sleep.
I wish I could hold him again in my arms
Where the night keeps him young with his manly charms.
Who is he, I don't know but he's in my dreams
When I close my eyes and I maybe scream.
At the nightmare that cuts through the middle of my head
And when I wake up I'm back in my bed.
But the dreams are so real I'm gasping with fear
But as I focus on reality I sense he is near.
The silence in movement, he's inside my room
Standing in the shadows, blocked by the gloom.
Clearing his throat, he presses the sonic
The noise echoes the room like something demonic.
He shouts all the words to capture the beast
Of my dreams as it exits before the feast.
He's my hero but I wish he were more than that
A moment so fleeting, something more than a chat.
I'm held in his arms as the monsters all flee
And I wish I were travelling along with thee!
My Doctor, oh Doctor, who travels alone
No-one to talk to, nobody to phone.
I wish I was with you, in your blue Police box
Not here on Earth waiting and watching the clocks.
PROTECTING THE CHOSEN ONE
The dining table alight with food
The guests all sit with bated breath.
Matilda comes in with her brood
Young Ellen's close to death.
Bruce is sporting a black eye
Constance parks her bum.
Matty Bauer loosens his tie
Katie sucks her thumb.
The seat across the table from me
Is empty. Someone is missing.
I glance across the room and see
That Billie Jo is kissing!
The chair is moved and he sits down
The table now is full.
Each drinks a toast to Martha Brown
Who's left for the Isle of Mull.
He rests his head on bended hands
And grins that smile I know.
While people turn as they hear the band
Play music from Tupelo.
He pours himself a wine and drinks
He eyes me all the time.
I try to avert my eyes and think
But turn back to him and mime.
'Just what the hell you doing here
Is the galaxy not big enough?'
He shakes his head and pulls his ear
Offended at the rebuff.
He flicks his head towards the door
And alights from his seat.
I follow across the carpeted floor
And trip over laced up feet.
While sitting down oblivious
Matilda's children had had some fun.
They were all acting mischievous
And now their job was done.
For unknown to the dinner guests
And for those whose shoes were laces.
They'd tied them up the little pests
While folks all stuffed their faces.
I dragged myself up off the floor
And exited the room.
He stared outside and I know for sure
He was staring at the moon.
'Is it customary to follow me
To every place I go?'
He grinned and it's then that I could see
That he would never ever say no.
I looked into his eyes and sighed
It would always be this way.
That no matter if I was to hide
He'd never leave, but stay.
He'd fight the monsters in my life
He'd protect me every night.
He would never use a gun or knife
But a screwdriver with a blue light.
He'd keep me safe for evermore
I heard him say that once.
To someone standing on the shore
When they turned to him askance.
No matter whom I fight today
It's tomorrow he's frightened of.
When the war temps people across the world
Like a light bulb to a moth.
He knows that I will have to fight
Its the reason I was born.
To protect the humans with all my might
Before the blood red dawn.
He led me to his space ship
The Tardis it was called.
In there he taught me to equip
With the knowledge he'd installed.
My levels of intelligence
Had risen once again.
His teachings though were so intense
They almost fried my brain.
I grew up learning physics
And binary and Maths.
And what chemicals I couldn't mix
When I did I felt his wrath.
He would never open up to me
His feelings locked inside.
But when I used telepathy
He could sense as my eyes were wide.
That I'd visualise this angels mind
I could see how much he'd lost.
And although was was still very kind
His freedom came at a cost.
The war that was to end all wars
Was fought way out in space.
The battle to settle one almighty score
I could see it in his face.
I held him close that very night
His body shook with such emotion.
He lay sleeping in the moonlight
As I sat watching the ocean.
He told me that he never slept,
But I know that was a lie.
But after that night he wept
I knew he'd wonder why,
I stayed with him, I didn't leave
Where would I go and why?
We both needed time to grieve
And say our last goodbye.
Our planet's gone this war on Earth
Will come around once more.
And we will fight for all our worth
And settle the final score.
BALKONIA (Doctor Who story in poetry form)
Broken twigs, disturbed ground
Hands out wide, he hears no sound.
But feels the heat, the static tension
Looks around, but nobody mentions.
What it was, what it did
Where it went and where it hid?
He stands up, he looks around
Still the heat and still no sound.
He rubs his fingers through his hair
The ruffles settling everywhere.
He turns to the left, he turns to the right
The sonic is out, it shines so bright.
A wail of pain to the left of him
Turns his attention into a spin.
He runs in search of what he'll find,
Without a thought for who's left behind.
She sighs and runs for fear of staying
In case it returns for more preying!
The Doctor crouching sees a child
It's face so pale, its eyes are wild.
He smiles and gently holds out his hand
Talks gently to it, but still in command.
He sees the scars, the ID tag
He knows this child belongs to Stagg.
He lowers his head a second or two
When he looks back the child is blue.
It metamorphed before his eyes
A shock for some, but he's not surprised.
As Donna sees the child it wails
She steps back in shock and upon a tail.
She turns around and meets a creature
Her eyes are wide at its distinctive feature.
A noble alien the Wandon Flagg
Wearing the insignia belonging to Stagg.
It flashes a grin so wide, so sneering
The Doctor steps aside as its arms are steering,
Towards the Time Lord as he backs away
The child has vanished, why would it stay?
The Doctor removes his sonic device
He stares at the creature, mutters something not nice.
But Donna is before him, she can't understand
This Wandon Flagg has made no demand.
Despite its size and its demeanour
And the fact it morphs into something much greener.
She finds it appeal less threatening until
The Doctor informs her of what it can kill.
She backs away and glares at Flagg
And pulls out a spray from within her bag.
She tires of being just the mate
Who can handle herself on any date.
A bottle of mace, a sprayer will do
To blind the attacker if she wanted to.
But the Doctor can see that this could be worse
And reminds her of this, as he begins to curse.
He clamps his hands to his head and groans in pain
The flashing of light begins again.
He slumps to his knees, Donna is wary
He's done this before, and before that was scary.
His eyes are tight shut, he's groaning still
And Wandon Flagg looks ready to kill.
She lifts up the sonic, it's poised in her hand
But what happened next she couldn't understand.
The Doctor collapsed, passed out on the floor
Wandon took that moment to morph once more.
Another blue child stood before her quite scared
She looked down at the Doctor, her nostrils flared.
It wasn't a dream, she was now in control
She could do what she wanted, could command the Troll.
To take them back to the Doctor's ship
Cure what ailed him, but do it quick.
But the moment she pressed the sonic screwdriver
The alien that had once stood beside her.
Vanished, disappeared, she was staring at trees
The forest they stood in swayed in the breeze.
She crouched by the Doctor, he was still breathing
She knew explaining this would take some believing.
Donna knew she couldn't stay in this forest too long
Wandon could bring in forces that were strong.
She couldn't battle with that little blue stick
And although it was good and would do the trick.
For one or two aliens, not an entire bunch
And be home in time for breakfast or lunch.
Stagg had an army, she'd met them before
But on a different planet, where the waters did roar.
She shook the Doctor and yelled in his ear
Then stopped and looked around, something was near.
A rustle in the bushes and four tiny men
Popped out their heads and popped in again.
She blinked several times, was she dreaming this too
All she needed was to see them popping back blue!
The Doctor was stirring, he groaned then awoke
His senses detected that someone had spoke.
He felt for the sonic but it wasn't there
He looked all about him and became aware
That next to Donna the bushes were talking
And as he watched it began walking.
Eight little legs below the bush
He grabbed at the sonic and with a rush.
Lunged at the shrubbery sending it sprawling
Back on the forest floor as Donna began calling.
'It's ok, they're friendly, just a little shy
But now that you've hurt them, they'll probably try,
To hurt us back you crazy fool.'
She said as she helped up little Caroo.
The Doctor unsure of what he had gone on
Sat bewildered and lost and the only one.
As Donna smiled before him, holding out her hand
And now before him, four little men did stand.
'They're the renegade squad, taking back what's theirs'
Said Donna once details had been shared.
'It seems that Stagg is up to no good
And is capturing all the children with blue blood.'
The Doctor was incensed, his anger scared the men
But he couldn't let it go, no more, never again.
He strode out of the forest, he strode over the hill
He marched t'wards the castle, the sonic worked its skill.
Donna strode behind him, her concern always there
That she'd need to stop him, coz only she would care.
He got so darned obsessive when people didn't listen
And when he made those promises his eyes would really glisten.
She'd had to stop him once before, or he would have been drowned
She doubted he would have listened if she hadn't been around.
And now that he was storming towards this evil Stagg
She knew she'd need to stop him even if she nagged.
He stood before the great man, his wealth adorned the walls
From tapestries to weaponry did hang about the hall.
'Ahh the Time Lord cometh, I wondered when you would.'
Shouted Stagg from his throne made of Sacla wood.
He rose and stood before the man that legends had foretold
His portrayal of a lonely angel, with fire and ice and cold.
Stagg was full of anger but fear had crept inside
And as he stood before the Doctor his eyes had opened wide.
'This can't go on, you can't control every single child,
You have to let them live their lives, you have to leave them wild.'
'But you know as well as I do Doctor, that these children are full of hate.
And to have them wander freely would certainly seal my fate.'
Staff had heard the prophecy, he knew the day was near
When all the children of Balkonia would take his life and cheer.
'You stole their planet, destroyed their land
Their fate is sealed, you can't demand
To live in freedom while they are slaves
Surely there's something more you crave?'
The Doctor growled his words of danger
As Stagg feared the words from the stranger.
Donna took her leave and disappeared downstairs
Where she heard the screaming and was aware
That the children were caged in the dungeons below
And she had to rescue them, they all had to go.
She used the sonic as the Doctor instructed
On the many devices that had been constructed.
To keep in the children, to keep them protected
From outside interference where'd they'd be detected.
And taken to safety away from this brute
Who would conquer this land, taking whatever would suit.
His needs, his desire, his land and his throne
The Doctor felt he now had to be overthrown.
Out of nowhere Wandon struck out at our hero
Who dodged him and blasted him with a sub zero
Psychic force that blew him off his three feet
And found him landing upon Stagg's seat.
The Doctor grinned, but not for long
Stagg lunged for him, his grip was strong.
And as he squeezed the Doctor's throat
The Time Lord pulled something from his coat.
A tiny crystal, blue and white
That sparkled in the candlelight.
The light picked up across the room
And echoed through the endless gloom.
It enticed Stagg who released his grip
The Doctor now free, wished that his ship
Was a little bit nearer not a mile away
As when Stagg took the crystal his mind would stray.
Caught in the light of the dazzling stone
That would consume his memories including his throne.
It would take all his wealth, his dreams, his powers,
The castle gone, just trees and flowers.
And people like him with nothing to own
No dreams, no life, just skin and bone.
The Doctor ran from the castle with Donna beside him
A sea of blue children as the light was subsiding.
They laughed and they cheared, they were free at last
Now free of their shackles, they looked back aghast.
Wandon was gaining, he was nearing them all
But fell over the men who were really quite small.
As they ran in the bushes their feet underneath
It was something worth seeing to be believed.
The Tardis in view, the forest all around
Wandon was gone, Stagg and the crown.
The children were safe, they were free to live on
The Doctor was home as if he'd never really gone.
Donna felt sad that they had to leave
The children in the forest, he supposed she believed.
He would take them back home but he shook his head
'Their home is gone, their planet is dead.'
He flicked at the switches and moved all about
The controls on his ship, but Donna had doubts.
'But there's nothing in that forest down there
Those children need families that would really care.
Can't we take them to another place
Where they can morph or have much more space.
Like Resodux9 or Planctonville
There's more potential than this landfill?'
But the Doctor knew what she was getting at
But the Balkonian's were wild not domesticats!
'Donna, I can't, they have to stay here
And who know, maybe in a few hundred years
That this will be the start of something good,
Where the new Balkonian's with their blue blood
Will protect this planet and guard their borders
From people like Stagg and other marauders.'
She knew he was trying to keep her sweet
It wasn't her problem, wasn't her street.
But it was true, they were safe in their Balkonian world
Safe from Stagg and whatever was hurled
Through space towards their planet so true,
Just like Earth, all green and blue!
Like I said, I don't write short poems, but hope you like them nevertheless.
I have more poetry on my blog on www.all-this-n-chocolate.blogspot.com where you'll get to see what I really look like.
